Let me go on record as saying U2's "With or Without You" is the saddest song I've ever heard in my life...it always gives me a huge lump in my throat, and some renditions of it will actually make me tear up. It goes back to a painful break-up, drinking in a bar near Camp Ripley, MN, and getting insanely drunk. It was a rough night and the following morning was even worse.

Tonight, I found a fucking fantastic cover of the song, which I'll embed here. I've got this in iPod video format, and as an MP3.

The singer is Utada Hikaru, one of the biggest female pop stars in Japanese history. She's fully bilingual and her English stuff is on iTunes.

Ah, Utada Hikaru. I'm glad you found this little bit from her. She's a fantastic singer and songwriter...I have her English album and almost all of her Japanese stuff. Her voice excels with this kind of song...you should seriously check out her other stuff.
